Areas of Work
From being the trusted voice on U.S.- Iran relations, to pushing forth legislation that protects individuals of Iranian heritage from systematic discrimination, to celebrating our cultural heritage, NIAC creates a lasting impact in the lives of the members of our community.
Peace & Diplomacy
An empowered Iranian-American community can advance policies that build precedent-setting infrastructures that incentivize peace and diplomacy, not only between the U.S. and Iran, but across the global stage.
Communication and respect are integral to advancing human rights, building economic opportunities, and cultivating a world where Americans and Iranians can work together on areas of mutual interest for the betterment of both nations and the world.

Equitable Immigration
Ensuring that Iranians have the same opportunities as other nationals to make the U.S. their home can only make our country greater.
Immigrants are what makes America great and are the cornerstone of the inclusivity, justice, and equality necessary to keep the American dream alive.
Latest Updates
The National Iranian American Council wrote Secretary of State Antony Blinken, urging him to continue efforts to expedite visas and refugee processing for Iranian nationals, with a specific focus on Iranian students. Unfortunately, Iranian students are encountering difficulties in securing visas via administrative backlogs and unexplained rejections.
Civil Rights
America's founders enshrined the inalienable rights of all people in our Constitution and Americans have fought for generations to secure and protect those rights.
Our civil rights should never be sublimated in the name of politics or security. Only by holding our government accountable to their civil rights obligations can we protect those rights for future generations and credibly speak out in support of human rights globally.

Human Rights
Raising up the struggles faced by Iranian human rights defenders and holding the Iranian government to international human rights standards is essential to building a future in which the U.S. and Iran enjoy positive relations. NIAC consistently condemns human rights violations by Iran’s government and calls for all prisoners of conscience to be released.
As an American organization, NIAC does not have a role to play in the domestic affairs of Iran. But we do have an obligation to support international human rights standards to which the U.S. and Iran are party.
NIAC’s work on human rights has included helping establish a UN Human Rights Monitor on Iran, securing targeted human rights sanctions against abusers, and lifting US sanctions on communications technology and humanitarian work inside Iran
