Presidential Survey Results: Harris Improves on Biden But Serious Questions Loom
Washington, DC – In August, NIAC Action conducted a survey of 550 of its members regarding who they planned to support in the upcoming Presidential Election. The results find Kamala Harris significantly leading, with support from 48% of the respondents. The next most popular candidate was Jill Stein, with 27% support. Donald Trump received the lowest amount of support of any candidate still in the race with just 3%. Compared to our previous member survey, conducted in February of this year when Joe Biden was the presumed Democratic candidate, Harris received a 10% increase from the level of support for Biden. As part of that earlier survey, respondents indicated that their vote was most influenced by the candidate’s position on the war in Gaza, diplomacy with Iran, war and peace, and civil rights issues. Harris’ improved results in our survey may be a result of hopes that she will represent a change from President Biden’s Middle East policy. However, compared to our presidential endorsement survey from 2020 in which 85% of respondents voted to endorse Joe Biden, her numbers represent a significant drop off for the Democratic candidate.
