In response to an event on June 4th, 2020, in which Iranian American Peyman Bahadoran was shot and paralyzed by the NYPD, NIAC worked with his family to highlight the case and amplify Peyman’s recovery fund. The statement touches on a few of the many problems in the police force, including its failure to deal with mental health properly, as well as de escalate situations instead of immediately resorting to life-threatening violence.
