After decades of lobbying on the issue, the Office of Management and Budget has officially proposed a significant change to the 2030 U.S. Census with the creation of an individual MENA (Middle Eastern and North African) category. With the opportunity to publicly comment on the proposition, NIAC has submitted this letter expressing our support for the creation of the category, along with an Iranian subcategory, given the numerous benefits it would provide the Iranian-American community and all other MENA-American communities across the U.S.
