NIAC Calls on Trump to Renew Iran Sanctions Waivers

Washington, DC – National Iranian American Council President Trita Parsi issued the following statement following the President’s certification to Congress that Iran is upholding its commitments under the Iran nuclear deal: 
 
“We welcome President Trump’s recognition that the Iran nuclear deal is working and Iran is upholding its commitments. With this certification, President Trump must now uphold the United States’ obligations and renew the sanctions waivers. If not, Trump will place the U.S. in violation of its commitments and be responsible for unilaterally killing the nuclear deal. Trump risks not just unraveling one of the most significant national security achievements in decades, but also destroying U.S. credibility in any future negotiations and international agreements. There is simply no question that renewing the sanctions waivers, and upholding our commitments, is in the vital national interests of the United States.”
