On April 1, NIAC Action sent the following open letter to the Joe Biden campaign, underscoring how U.S. sanctions are inhibiting humanitarian aid and asking the Vice President to clarify his remarks on Meet the Press regarding whether he would ease sanctions amid the COVID-19 outbreak in Iran. Today, the Biden campaign issued a statement calling for significant steps aimed at ensuring humanitarian aid can flow to Iran uninhibited. However, the statement stops short of calling for sectoral sanctions to be temporarily waived.
