DC Fundraiser a Success!

THANK YOU to all who helped make NIAC’s June 8th Washington, DC fundraiser a huge success, to help defeat visa waiver discrimination laws and strengthen the Iranian-American community! Thanks to our generous DC, Maryland and Virginia supporters, we exceeded our $60K fundraising goal, reaching a total of $75K in contributions — and enjoyed a wonderful evening of inspiring words and delicious food!

During this special event, guests enjoyed hearing insightful remarks from longtime champions for diplomacy, Congresswomen Barbara Lee and Jan Schakowsky. The Congresswomen stressed the importance of negotiations and open communication along with the need to come together to defeat the most important issue for our community today – discriminatory visa waiver changes. With the 2016 elections approaching, Schakowsky and Lee encouraged our community to get registered, get out the vote, and make an impact at the ballot box.

Of course, the event could not have happened without the leadership and hard work of our amazing Host Committee! Major thanks to Fahimeh Moghtader, Soheila Rostami, Fourough Parvizian-Yazdani, Nadereh Chamlou, Paymaun Lotfi, Nader Sadeghi, Lyne Picard, Mehrnaz Teymourian, and Kazem Kazempour. Also, a big thank you to our talented photographer, Hesam Mostafavi and our dear volunteer, Narguess Moasser.

We greatly appreciate NIAC’s DC, Maryland and Virginia supporters for investing so generously in strengthening the Iranian American community – especially during this critical time!
