John Mullan joined NIAC in June 2021 as its Administrative Assistant. In this role, John supports NIAC’s internal organizational and advancement efforts.
Previously he was a post-bachelor’s student at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he obtained Flagship certification in Persian. He also worked as a research intern on the Open Islamicate Texts Initiative, hosted at Maryland’s Roshan Institute for Persian Studies. As a member of the Open ITI team, John developed new software designed to transcribe Arabic, Persian, Ottoman, and Urdu books and manuscripts. In 2020, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Islamic Studies.
