NIAC Receives Grant from the Prestigious National Endowment for Democracy

Washington, DCThe National Iranian American Council has received a grant from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), after only one month since NIAC's launch.

The Endowment is a private, nonprofit organization created in 1983 to strengthen democratic institutions around the world through nongovernmental efforts. NED is guided by the belief that freedom is a universal human aspiration that can be realized through the development of democratic institutions, procedures, and values.

"We are very excited," says Newsha Moraveji, one of the main authors of the proposal to NED. "Iranian-American community organizations need to tap into the resources available in the American foundation world, and we hope that NIAC's activities will help other Iranian-American organizations to explore these opportunities," Ms. Moraveji explained.

The grant from the National Endowment for Democracy goes towards NIAC's media activities.
