The Telegraph: Iran Rejected ‘Confrontation’ Says Hassan Rouhani as Allies Win 90 Seats

Commentators believe the election result will strengthen Mr Rouhani’s hand. “The stunning setback of the hardliners in the elections is precisely why they opposed the Iran nuclear deal,” said Trita Parsi, the president of the National Iranian American Council.

“They knew that if successful, the Rouhani faction would benefit electorally from the significant achievement of resolving the nuclear issue and reducing tensions with United States.”
