NIAC Action is calling on the Democratic National Committee to make returning to the Iran nuclear agreement and repealing Trump’s Muslim Ban a part of its 2020 Platform. As the party begins drafting its agenda for a potential Biden presidency, NIAC Action’s letter underscored that returning to the nuclear deal would ensure the resumption of tight restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program and open up sorely needed channels for dialogue, while a repeal of the Muslim ban would end a discriminatory policy victimizing tens of thousands of Iranian Americans and their friends and family.

Biden, the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, has already publicly committed to reenter the nuclear accord and pledged to NIAC Action that he would repeal the Muslim Ban that separates Iranian Americans from their families on “day one” of his administration. Previously, NIAC Action helped ensure the DNC adopted a resolution calling for the U.S. to return the U.S. to its Iran deal commitments in 2019.
