Washington DC – Renowned Iranian-American journalist – and NIAC member – Afshin Molavi has an interesting article in Newsweek magazine this week. The article describes how the Iranian government’s failure to provide jobs and opportunities in Iran have caused some of the country’s best and brightest to emigrate to the United States – and become part of the Iranian-American community here. The combination of having the region’s best educational centers (such as Sharif/Arya Mehr University) and the region’s most restrictive economy has been devastating for the country’s youth – but has inadvertently helped enrich the American economy and the Iranian-American community. The Sharif University alumni quoted by name in the article are all active NIAC members, for instance. The article can be found here. |
