On May 20th, 2024 the International Criminal Court charged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar with war crimes and crimes against humanity.
On July 24th, Netanyahu will address the U.S. Congress.
The United States Congress SHOULD NOT be honoring a leader responsible for creating the worst humanitarian disaster in modern history – the architect of the mass illness, famine, displacement, and the deaths of tens of thousands of children.
Congress SHOULD NOT provide yet another platform to influence the American political process to a man who has been working to coax the U.S. into war with Iran for decades.
In 2002 he was invited to Congress to help sell the invasion of Iraq, which Netanyahu claimed would bring democracy to Iran: ”I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations on the region,” Netanyahu claimed. “And I think that people sitting right next door in Iran, young people, and many others, will say the time of such regimes, of such despots is gone”
In 2015, after he was unsuccessful in pushing Obama to bomb Iran, he was invited to Congress to sabotage Obama’s nuclear diplomacy and attack the very premise of negotiations.
Most recently, it has been revealed that Netanyahu’s government is operating illegal influence operations targeting U.S. lawmakers, civil society organizations, and the American public.
Now, Netanyahu has been invited to bring his message directly to Congress to demand more American support for the destruction in Gaza and to wage an all out regional war with Iran.
Sadly, there are many leaders – even within the Iranian diaspora – who have decided to embrace Bibi Netanyahu. History will not judge them kindly, but we do not have time to wait for the history books: we must stand up for what’s right NOW. That’s why we are demanding that lawmakers boycott Netanyahu’s speech next week and to reject his calls for collective punishment against innocent civilians and war with Iran.
We have stood up to Netanyahu and the Israel Lobby before and won, and we will win again thanks to the support of ordinary Iranian Americans and Americans of all stripes who do not want another disastrous war.
