Iranian Americans in Maryland Meet with Local Officials

Washington DC – At an event sponsored by NIAC and hosted by the Law Offices of Afshin Pishevar, Iranian Americans took the opportunity to meet with their local Montgomery county officials to discuss everything from education to domestic violence and crime in the county.

In an effort to promote Iranian-American involvement and participation in local politics, several prominent local politicians were invited, including Montgomery County State's Attorney Doug Gansler, Councilmember Ike Leggett, Deputy State Attorney John McCarthy, and Councilmember Mike Subin.

For any community to gain national influence, it has to start by gaining influence at the local level first. Only by affecting local decisions can the community later advance its interest at the national level. Much thanks to the Law Offices of Afshin Pishevar, Iranian Americans in Montgomery county took a decisive step towards gaining local influence.
