This video was sent to us by a reader, Jimmy, reportedly showing the mourning ceremonies marking the 40th day after the death of Sohrab Arabi, the 19-year-old student shot during demonstrations in Tehran on June 15.  There remains some uncertainty about the exact time of Arabi’s death, as his family was notified of his death on July 11, despite the fact that his body was delivered to the coroner’s office on June 19.  Regardless, from this video and the description attached, there appears to have been a large gathering last night marking the 40th day after Arabi’s death became known.

The chants, which are difficult to hear clearly, may be translated as “Death to this government that deceives its people!”
