Rafsanjani not to lead Friday Prayer

According to BBC Persian, the chair of Tehran’s Friday Prayers Council, Reza Taghavi, stated on Monday that former president Hashemi Rafsanjani will not lead this week’s Friday Prayers in order to prevent any possible unrest and violence.  He also explained that the decision was made because he does not want “the Friday Prayers’ sacred position to be abused by some groups.”
