David Emami was appointed to the City Council in Happy Valley, Oregon in 2019 and in November of 2020, David won his election by the largest margin of victory in city history. David is the first ever Iranian-American member of a City Council in Oregon’s history and believes that “diversity in our thoughts and opinions is what makes us stronger as a community.”
In his professional life, David is an Account Manager at a publicly traded wholesale distribution company and was recently featured as one of 10 “Millennials on the Move” by the Professional Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Piping community, where he worked for 15 years. David has over 20 years of experience in the private sector and his entire career is based on providing solutions for people in all walks of life and bringing individuals together towards a common goal.” Born and raised in Oregon, David attended Oregon State University and received his Bachelor’s of Science in Economics, and has a minor in Chemistry. David is proud to be a strong voice for the underrepresented and a champion of the people.
David enjoys spending time with his wife, Susie, and their two daughters, Soheila and Nova; and is an avid volunteer at school functions, coaches girls’ basketball and enjoys hiking. David serves as the liaison for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, The Public Art Committee and is an active member of the National League of Cities. “I look forward to bringing fresh new ideas from a different lens and I have the knowledge, passion and experience to serve our city. I am determined and motivated to ensure Happy Valley is a safe community where all people are welcome and respected. I am honored to serve our fine City.”
