Pentagon Defends Cagan on "I hate all Iranians" Remark
Written by NIAC

Image Washington DC – In a letter to Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Under Secretary of Defense Eric Edelman defends Debra Cagan and assures the New York Congresswoman that the Cagan never said “I hate all Iranians.” The Daily Mail and the New York Times reported earlier this fall that Ms. Cagan made the statement at a meeting with six members of the British Parliament in September. Edelman writes that “I am confident Ms. Cagan did not make the statement attributed to her in the articles.” However, three British Parliamentarians are on the record asserting that Ms. Cagan did utter those words. The National Iranian American Council has called for Secretary Gates to relieve Ms. Cagan of all her responsibilities due to her remark.
