NIAC Publishes 2003-2004 Annual Report Moving Forward Promoting Iranian American Civic Participation NIAC is proud to publish its 2003-2004 Annual Report, Moving Forward, a 27-page document listing NIAC's activities and achievements over the past months, as well as its key projects for 2005. The report follows last year's report, Transforming a Community. This year's report also includes a section that addresses how our community should be organized in order to successfully face future challenges. The report includes an explanation of the U.S. policy process, as well as a description of the different types of organizations our community needs to form, including their functions and role in the policy process.
NIAC will continue to focus on civic participation and
education in 2005, while extending its programs such as the
Congressional Breakfast Series to Iranian-American
population centers outside the Washington, D.C.
metropolitan area.
In 2005, NIAC also plans to submit its petition to the Small Business Administration, requesting that Iranian Americans as a group be granted 8 (a) status. The success of this petition will qualify Iranian-American small businesses for several benefits. (See more information here) Finally, NIAC is launching its Public Service and Journalism Fellowship Program for Iranian-American youth next year, and will aim to award its first group of fellows in Summer 2005 with internship placements.
